Grieving Family Ministry (Parents of Lost Children)
Recognizing that the loss of a family member requires long term grieving and healing, SMAA hosts a special grieving family fellowship group/ Doreen Pacella leads the grieving parents group for those who have lost children, and Deacon Larry Rieger leads the grieving spouses group who are healing after the loss of a spouse. Doreen and Michael Pacella lost their young adult daughter, and Deacon Larry was widowed young with a small child to raise alone, and then widowed a second time by an extended illness. Whether recently bereaved, or still carrying a heavy heart from long ago, come sit in and share your grief and concerns. This group is led by parents who have lost children, and share their experiences through the grieving and adjustment times. Although we call these group ministries, our group can be just yourself and one of our leaders.
Veterans Fellowship
(Kiplings Own)
A group of and for veterans, we share the experiences of military and deployments, and the memories and adjustments of those experiences. Deacon Larry is a former paratrooper and Infantry officer who spend his adult life in and with the Army. Father Michael is a former Army chaplain and served as a navy enlisted on China Station during the Vietnam War. We take our name from the Rudyard Kipling poem "Pagan"
